Dating back to 1682, Haddonfield is a beautiful
suburban community located in southern New Jersey.
It is a quaint community of 12,000 located just
ten miles from Philadelphia. Haddonfield has enjoyed
a long and
storied history since its founding by Elizabeth
Haddon, the daughter of John Haddon, a friend
of the famous Quaker William Penn. Haddonfield's
Indian
King Tavern is one of New Jersey's most historic
buildings. In 1777, the New Jersey legislature
met at the Indian King to officially create New
Jersey as an independent state and to adopt the
Great Seal of New Jersey.
Less than one hundred years later, in 1858, Haddonfield
again made history, as the first nearly-complete
dinosaur skeleton was found on the Haddonfield
farm of John Estaugh Hopkins. The discovery of
the Hadrosaurus
forever changed the science community and our
view of natural history.
Today, Haddonfield continues to flourish. Its
schools are amongst the best in the area, and
its newly revitalized downtown was recently named
as Best Revived Shopping District by Philadelphia
Magazine. Its historic houses also make Haddonfield
attractive to both residents and visitors.
